Batch Auto Download Sentinel Satellite Imagery from Copernicus Hub

Sentinel Satellite Imagery is known for the popularity on geospatial data sources in recent years. First, it is free to use and free to download, second, it is ranging from medium resolution to high resolution, third, it comes from Optical Remote Sensing Spectrum to Microwave SAR Spectrum. It is all gives a comprehensive and holistic data usage experience for the users. The data access and download support are also easy and straightforward. You can access it from Copernicus SciHub, USGS earth explorer, ASF Data Facility, and many geoportals developed by EU Agencies or Private companies. Sentinel data is also stored in AWS (Amazon Web Services) and has declared as an open repository/buckets in AWS, so you can also use the data in a cloud computing environment. This is why many users have been using the sentinel data in clouds (for example, Google Earth Engine Users have been used the AWS repo for the last few years, and many geospatial algorithms or automated processing code have been developed in GEE since then).

One important thing about sentinel imagery is, it greatly facilitates multitemporal analysis because the data has been collected in a systematic way and following standardized scene definition. If you are familiar with the WRS specification of Landsat data, Sentinel series is also following the same way. Talking about well-known Landsat data, Sentinel data (especially Sentinel-2) can also be integrated with Landsat TM, ETM+, and OLI Sensors to make a long-range multitemporal analysis in almost every region in the world.

One problem with Sentinel data is, the image size quite large (600 MB to 5 GB). So downloading one scene maybe need quite an amount of time. This is just for one scene, what about if we want to perform multitemporal analysis and we don't familiar with Cloud Computing, we can only rely on our trusty PC or laptop. Imagine how much time to spend just downloading and waiting for the download to finish. If internet connection and time constrain are not a problem, but you still don't want to monitor the download progress, there are many ways to automatically download the imagery based on your preferences. You can use API based downloading method that is also supported in Copernicus Platform, or you can use Bulk and Batch Downloader. I already made a video tutorial about how to conduct Sentinel Imagery download in batch method. Here is how.
